our first date

I had butterflies, as strong as the day my prince took my hand and helped me down the white horse-drawn carriage, and walked me down the isle where we said "I do."

For the first time in a long time, I sat in the passenger side, right next to him.

He held my hand and never let it go.

He showed me where he seeks refuge from a long morning of work, his favorite coffee shop where he ordered the usual, a mocha latte.
He then took me atop the Aloha Tower where we had a 360 degree view of the island, feeling so much gratitude for this beautiful place we currently call home.
Lastly, we had lunch on the pier and watched the boats pass by.
For 4 hours, I gazed into his baby blues as we talked about our life, our love, our hopes, our dreams...
Our beautiful daughter who we already missed so much.
We talked about Pawpaw, Brent's grandfather who passed away when he was 15.
His hero.
I wiped away his tears.
He told me about how much he loved listening to him play the harmonica, how he told Brent to never smoke.
I never met Pawpaw, but I love him for every way that he has shaped my husband to become the man that he is today.  I see him every day, in those baby blues, in the ring that I so proudly wear on my left hand, in the way Brent loves me and opens my door, and pulls back my chair for me to sit.  In the way he loves the Lord.

This day was a day that I will remember for as long as I shall live.
